Dynamics of Changes in The Lives of Female Fishermen Workers in Facing Climate Change on Pasaran Island, Bandar Lampung City
Abstrak
Climate change that has hit the waters around Pasaran Island has caused seasonal and weather uncertainty which has disrupted the operational activities of salted fish processors on Pasaran Island. The objectives of this study are: 1). To analyze the level of vulnerability of female fisherman workers processing salted fish to climate change; 2). To analyze the income level of female fisherman workers processing salted fish to climate change; 3). To analyze the level of resilience of female fisherman workers processing salted fish to climate change. The method in this study uses a mixed method approach where data sources are taken from observations and interviews with female fisherman workers processing salted fish. Data from the interview results are then analyzed using LVI (Livelihood Vulnerability Index) analysis and then analyzed using qualitative analysis using the case study method. During the data collection process, interviews were conducted intensively with an effective length of interviews of at least 60 minutes. The results of the study indicate that female fisherman workers processing salted fish on Pasaran Island are vulnerable to the impacts of climate change with an LVI value of 0.69. Meanwhile, the income level of female fisherman workers processing salted fish is quite significant in the family economy with a percentage of 39.44%. Therefore, when there is a period of cessation of salted fish production, it will have a significant impact on the family economy. Ecological resilience is very weak due to the lack of disaster mitigation and preparedness in facing the impacts of climate change. Economic resilience is also very weak because the majority of female fisherman workers do not have other sources of income and only rely on income from wages for salted fish production. In contrast, the community's social resilience is very strong, this relationship is formed from mutual trust, mutual assistance, and mutual strengthening amidst the impacts of climate change
